How to Choose Fishing Tackle: Key Tips

Key Tips for Choosing Fishing Tackle

Undoubtedly, stress is one of the biggest problems facing people today. With the intense pace of work, daily rushes, and constant hustle, people want to escape this chaos, even for a moment. This is where hobbies come in. Amateur fishing is one of the most popular hobbies. Turkey's location, surrounded by seas on three sides and abundant inland waters, provides a suitable environment for fishing. Of course, like any pursuit, amateur fishing has its own specific tips. Material selection is very important for catching fish. The materials that change according to the place you will fish and the type of fish form the basis of successful angling. After choices like the rod, line, and reel, the most important material you will use will be choosing your fishing tackle. The fishing tackle will vary depending on the fish you want to catch. It will also change according to the characteristics of the place you will fish (rocky, sandy, reedy, etc.). If you are going to fish in freshwater, be sure to get information about the fish living there. Turkey's freshwater bodies are home to different species such as carp, pike, chub, trout, catfish, and barbel. This is where choosing the right fishing tackle becomes crucial. If you are going to catch predatory fish like pike, your tackle should be made of steel wire. This is because predatory fish like pike will break the fishing line after being caught. When catching toothless fish like carp, you should use tackle with large carp hooks. Your fishing line choice should also be thick relative to the size of the carp. In addition, for fishing in flowing waters for fish like trout and chub, you should use thinner fishing lines that are smaller and allow for quick reactions.

Materials to Be Used

If you are going to fish at sea, your hooks must have long shanks. Generally, prefer double or triple hook rigs. With long-shanked hooks, your bait will not fall off, and with multi-hook rigs, you will not have to constantly reel in and check your line. Do not use very thick fishing line for better reaction. Fishing lines for tying your rigs should ideally be in the range of 0.15-0.30. Just like hooks, lead weights are also very important for your rigs, whether in the sea or freshwater. In sandy areas, hollow-center lead weights will provide great results by dragging along the bottom. In reedy or rocky areas where there is a risk of snagging, pear-shaped lead weights will yield better results. The weight of the lead should be proportional to the thickness of the fishing line. Otherwise, the lead can break the line.
