In 1954, the Istanbul Municipality decided to establish an organization similar to one in Switzerland in Turkey; Migros created its trucks with the aim of offering affordable and quality goods to the public. These trucks traveled from neighborhood to neighborhood, offering products to the people.
By 1975, Koç Holding had purchased the majority shares of Migros, initiating its store expansion process. By 2005, Migros merged with Tansaş. The company's total number of stores reached 722 that year.
