What are the Barcode Printing Methods?

Direct Thermal Printing Systems

In industrial barcode printer systems, there are multiple ways to print barcodes, and each method always has its advantages and disadvantages. In laser printers; barcodes can be printed using laser printers, and there are no service or spare part issues with laser printers. In barcode printers; barcode printers offer two different printing techniques: direct thermal and thermal transfer. With these systems, printing is done by wetting the papers. In the method to be used, a heat-resistant paper, similar to fax machines, is heated and burned. Due to the effects of this heat, the papers turn black, and thus the printing operations are completed.

Thermal Transfer Printing Systems

This is also applied in industrial barcode printer systems. However, in prints made with this method, environmental factors always play an important role, and this printing method is short-lived. The reason for this is that it is affected by sun, heat, and intense light, and thus deteriorates. However, it is an ideal application for short-term uses. Prints made with these methods are always used for a long time and applications are carried out with ribbons, which are referred to as ribbons. In industrial barcode printer systems, the ribbon replaces the heated papers used in direct thermal printing. The ribbon is heated and adhered to the papers, and it is a healthier method. They are not affected by sun, heat, and intense direct light. They always provide long-lasting and durable results.
